Originating in Washington, DC, guests share their stories in The Secret Room from around the world. On February 20, 2016 Dahlia Beta and I fed our first episode.
Excited by the burgeoning podcast space, Dahlia and I wanted to contribute to our favorite genre, storytelling, by taking it to new places. How? By telling stories never heard before. We couldn’t get the first episode of The Secret Room out fast enough! But we wanted to do it right. So we took three months to plan the format, work with Breakmaster Cylinder to develop our theme, line up guests and preproduce a few episodes to keep us going.
From the beginning it was a podcast about the stories no one ever tells.
After almost a year Dahlia left the podcast to take care of her brand new baby girl with her husband. Hear my farewell in Episode 27 “Dahlia’s Big Reveal.” In it we celebrate Dahlia’s new chapter in life by documenting the highs and lows of her pregnancy, from the day she told me she was pregnant until the day I met her baby girl.
Since then The Secret Room has continued its journey through the podverse, seeking out untold stories to share with you. Thank you for making The Secret Room your favorite indie podcast that could.
